Possum – the secret to a shiny coat?

There’s an old Tasmanian farmer saying: “Nothing puts a shine on a dog’s coat better than possum.” And there may well be some truth in this!

Possum is a great choice for dogs for several reasons:

🐾 A novel protein
Possum is a novel protein for most dogs, making it an interesting option for dogs that need variety in their diet or a totally new protein due to allergies.

🌿 A responsible choice
Tasmanian possums are super abundant and are harvested as part of wildlife management on farms. As marsupials, they produce very little methane and have a relatively small climate footprint. Their harvest also requires no land clearing or modification of natural habitat.

❤️ Responsibly harvested
Every animal processed by Lenah must be harvested by an accredited harvester. Harvesters complete formal TAFE training and are assessed in the field by two government inspectors. All animals must be humanely harvested with a single rifle shot to the brain.

The result is a naturally sourced Tasmanian protein with strong environmental and animal-welfare credentials.
